The one step that actually matters here
Here's the part worth knowing first: you don't need a new app or a setting to turn on. If your phone already has Circle to Search, this multi-item behavior is just how it works now. Long-press your home button or nav bar as usual, then circle two or three things instead of one — two jackets in a photo, or a few products on a shelf. Your phone returns separate results for each, in the same panel.
How do I actually use it?
Start Circle to Search the usual way — long press the navigation handle in gesture mode, or the home button on 3-button navigation, per Google's own support page. Circle, highlight, or tap each item you want identified. Drag to adjust a selection if it grabs more or less than you meant, then swipe up to see everything it found.
Why this is actually a nice upgrade
Before, if a photo had a chair and a lamp you both liked, you'd circle the chair, look it up, back out, then circle the lamp and start over. Now both happen in one pass — a small thing, but the kind that removes a few annoying extra taps from something you were probably already doing.
What it can and can't do
This works within a single screen or photo you're already looking at — it's not scanning a whole room automatically, you still choose what to circle. It also depends on your phone having Circle to Search, which covers most modern Galaxy and Pixel devices but not every older Android phone. If it doesn't recognize items the way you expect, tapping the search bar to search the whole screen is a good fallback.
