ChatGPT GPT-6 Intelligent UI can turn one plain-English request into a bill splitter with editable amounts, tax and tip controls, and totals that change inside the conversation. You do not need to open a spreadsheet or know how to code—and the rollout includes Free accounts.
OpenAI launched the feature on October 7, 2026, for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, then began expanding it to Free and Go on October 8. It is rolling out globally, including the United States.
Try ChatGPT GPT-6 Intelligent UI with this prompt
Open ChatGPT on the web or mobile app, sign in, and start a regular conversation in the Chat tab. Then paste this:
Build an interactive dinner bill splitter for four people: Alex, Blair, Casey, and Drew. Let me enter each person's items, mark an item as shared by selected people, set tax and tip separately, choose whether tip is calculated before or after tax, and see each person's total update immediately. Start with a $24 shared appetizer, $28 for Alex, $22 for Blair, $22 for Casey, and $30 for Drew. Use 8.25% tax and a 20% tip on the pretax amount.
Ask for the interactive tool directly. A vague request such as “split this bill” may produce an ordinary text answer because ChatGPT decides when buttons, forms, charts, or other visual elements are more useful than prose.
If an editable panel appears, change Alex's entree from $28 to $32. Then switch the tip from 20% to 18%. The useful part is not the first answer; it is being able to adjust the real-world details without asking ChatGPT to rebuild a table after every change.
There is no separate Intelligent UI app to install. Free and Go accounts receive the GPT-6 Luna version, while Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise use GPT-6 Sol for everyday Chat. OpenAI has not published a separate fee or a special “bill splitter” allowance. Free access is included, but the usual plan and tool limits still apply.
A bill you can check without trusting the AI
For the sample prompt, the food subtotal is $126. An 8.25% tax adds $10.40 after rounding, and a 20% pretax tip adds $25.20, bringing the check to $161.60.
If the $24 appetizer is split evenly and tax and tip are divided in proportion to each person's food, the expected totals are:
- Alex: $43.61
- Blair: $35.91
- Casey: $35.91
- Drew: $46.17
Those four amounts add back to $161.60. This is the habit that makes an AI-made calculator genuinely useful: change the inputs freely, but compare the final total with the receipt before anyone sends money. Rounding each person's share too early can create a few cents of disagreement, so tell ChatGPT to show how it handles the remainder.
The same pattern works beyond dinner. Ask for a moving-cost splitter that assigns boxes or truck rental to specific people, a vacation budget with shared and private expenses, or a side-by-side subscription comparison with adjustable household size. OpenAI also shows Intelligent UI as a way to create charts, forms, interactive diagrams, and small games in the conversation.

What can stop it from appearing
The rollout is gradual, so two people on the same plan may not see the feature at the same time. OpenAI also says ChatGPT chooses the best response format; asking for a calculator does not guarantee a calculator. If you get a text table, start a new regular chat, repeat the more specific prompt above, and check that your app is current. A Business or Enterprise administrator may also control availability.
Keep financial details generic. A restaurant total and first names are enough; do not paste card numbers, bank details, or a receipt containing information you would not want in the chat. For an especially sensitive one-off calculation, review how ChatGPT Temporary Chat works before entering anything.
This guide is based on OpenAI's documented rollout and a manually checkable example; the live interactive renderer was not available to test in this publishing environment. Even so, the feature is worth trying if you regularly turn small decisions into makeshift spreadsheets. Start with a bill you can verify in one minute, then decide whether Intelligent UI has earned a place in your planning routine.
